General Physical Preparedness (GPP)
At the core of our annual training plan, as always, is General Physical Preparedness (GPP). GPP comprises 70-80% of the training regimen. This concept focuses on building a well-rounded athlete by enhancing all 10 domains of fitness: cardio/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy.
Phased Approach to Training
The Aevitas Training Plan adapts and evolves throughout the year. Each phase emphasizes different aspects of fitness to ensure a balanced and comprehensive training experience:
- Jan-Mar: Focus on foundational strength and power exercises, with benchmarks like Diane and Karen. Additionally, we will focus on preparing for the CrossFit Open during this segment.
- Apr-May: Step up your game with endurance challenges including Murph, Kelly, and Barbara, and a 20RM Back Squat benchmark.
- Jun-Jul: Build on your strength with a 5RM Back Squat benchmark, and tackle more endurance training as we prep for our SIXTH annual Tawasentha Triathlon!
- Aug-Oct: Gear up for the Capital Region Rumble Team Competition and take on benchmarks such as Nancy, Kelly, Eva, and the 2K Row.
Peak Performances and Benchmarks
Throughout the year, we will engage in various benchmarks and events that test your progress and push your limits. From iconic CrossFit challenges like Murph and the CrossFit Total to unique events like the 12 Days of Christmas and The Turk, each challenge will keep you motivated and engaged.
