The Return of the Rumble is coming to Aevitas Fitness in November! Many teams have already signed up, with several more in the works! Make sure to get your teams organized and signed up so you don’t miss your spot!
This post will outline everything you need to know about the second event of the day, “Max Unbroken”. Keep reading to learn about the workout and how it’ll be judged, then get your team together and start practicing!
General Rules:
- Teams must maintain the same F1->F2->M1->M2 order for all movements.
- 2 minutes is allotted for the entire team for each movement.
- Each athlete will get 1 attempt to do an unbroken set of each movement.
- 5 rep minimum per athlete for each movement.
- 5 min warm-up before each heat.
- Athletes must declare their weights before the start of each 4-minute working window.
Weight Selection Rules:
- Hang Snatch & S2OH must both be done at the same weight for each gender pair.
- Hang Clean & Hang C&J must both be done at the same weight for each gender pair..
- M/M Pair will have the following available: 45# Men’s Bar, 2x45s, 2x25s, 2x15s, 2x10s, 2x5s
- F/F Pair will have the following available: 35# Women’s Bar, 2x45s, 2x25s, 2x15s, 2x10s, 2x5s
Complete Workout Description:
At 3, 2, 1, Go…
At the start of the workout, Female 1 will do a single unbroken set of Hang Snatches at the declared female weight. Female 2 will follow with a set of unbroken Hang Snatches. The bar must be lowered to the ground between athletes.
Male 1 may start their set of Hang Snatches once the female bar is returned to the ground. Male 2 will then finish with a 4th and final unbroken set of Hang Snatches.
All 4 team members must register 1 unbroken set of at least 5 reps within the 2 minute window. Failure to do so will result in a score of zero for the team for that movement.
At the completion of the 2-minute Snatch window, using the same athlete order, teams will spend 2:00-4:00 performing max unbroken Shoulder-to-Overhead using the same guidelines as the Hang Snatch.
From 4:00-5:00, teams will increase the weight on the bar to their declared numbers for the Hang Cleans and Hang Clean & Jerks.
From 5:00-7:00, the same guidelines will apply for max unbroken Hang Cleans.
From 7:00-9:00, the same guidelines apply for the max unbroken Hang Clean and Jerks. Each Hang Clean and Jerk counts as 1 rep.
Scoring:
Score = Total tonnage moved (Weight x Reps)
- Hang Snatch Tonnage: Men’s Weight X Reps + Women’s Weight X Reps
- S2OH Tonnage: Men’s Weight X Reps + Women’s Weight X Reps
- Hang Clean Tonnage: Men’s Weight X Reps + Women’s Weight X Reps
- Hang C&J Tonnage: Men’s Weight X Reps + Women’s Weight X Reps
Total Tonnage = Hang Snatch Tonnage + S2OH Tonnage + Hang Clean Tonnage + Hang C&J Tonnage
Movement Standards:
Unbroken definition – Each athlete must begin their unbroken set by first pulling the barbell from the floor. The unbroken set is over once the barbell is returned to the floor. Pausing/resting at any point during the set is permitted as long as the barbell does not go back to the floor.
Hang Snatch – Each rep must begin from the hang position. The barbell must rise in one continuous motion without pausing until lockout of the knees, hips, and elbows is achieved. Control at lockout must be demonstrated for a rep to count. Hang squat snatch, hang power snatch, or hang split snatch are all permitted. If split snatching, the feet must return next to each other during lockout in order for the rep to count.
Shoulder-To-Overhead – Each rep must begin in the front rack position. The rep is successful once the barbell is overhead and lockout of the knees, hips, and elbows is achieved. Control at lockout must be demonstrated for a rep to count. Strict press, push press, push jerk, or split jerk are all permitted. If split jerking, the feet must return next to each other during lockout in order for the rep to count.
Hang Clean – Each rep must begin from the hang position. The rep is successful once the barbell is in the front rack position, and lockout of the knees and hips is achieved. Control at lockout must be demonstrated for a rep to count. Hang squat clean, hang power clean, or hang split clean are all permitted. If split cleaning, the feet must return next to each other during lockout in order for the rep to count.
Hang Clean & Jerk – Each rep must begin from the hang position. The same standards for the Hang Clean & Shoulder-To-Overhead are required.
**Note – At the beginning of each set for all hanging movements, the athlete must stand up with full hip extension before beginning the rep from the hang position.
