Anyone who knows Coach Sam loves at least a few things about him: his easy-going nature, his extensive health and fitness education, and his ability to sign himself up for some crazy adventures! He’s done it again, and will be competing this August in Washington at the “Bigfoot 500”! We want to wish him well in this incredible venture!
When we say “crazy adventure”, here’s a description of the event from the Destination Trail Run website:
A journey for the courageous, the adventurous, the crazy. This race showcases some of the most remote and challenging terrain in the Pacific Northwest from Volcano desolation zone to lava fields to deep, dark, dank old-growth forests with trees that seem to touch the stars, ridgeline trails Native Americans used to traverse the mountains, and peak bagging – three peaks with 360-degree views. This race will challenge you mentally and physically. Not for the faint of heart. When you finish, you just might believe in Bigfoot …
The race itself begins at Mt. St. Helens, travelling through the Cascade mountains, and ending in Randle, WA. The total distance Sam will travel is over 200 miles (209.5, to be exact)!
Sam has been and will continue to complete some gruelling longer-format workouts and trail runs in preparation for this feat. Just this weekend he completed a 6-hour AMRAP at the Aevitas Fitness Round Lake location, and was thankful to have some company with some of our Aevitas athletes showing up to support and complete at least portions of the work with him.
Stay tuned for more opportunities to train with Sam, and please help us send him well-wishes and the best of luck in August!
