Workout Details (so far…)
This unique individual competition is a mash-up of an Olympic Weightlifting meet and a CrossFit competition.
To begin the day, athletes will have three attempts (in each lift) to complete a max Snatch and max Clean & Jerk. These lifts will comprise the first two individual rankings based on the Sinclair score.
[What the heck is a Sinclair score, you ask? This common scoring technique ranks competitors based on the weight they lift compared to their body weight. See more details HERE. Using a Sinclair score, the athlete who lifts the most *compared to their body weight* is ranked highest.]
After the lifting portion of the day, athletes will complete a short and spicy CrossFit workout. We will announce this workout as the event gets closer, but prepare yourself for a real barn-burner!
Athletes will also complete a Floater WOD as part of the competition. A Final WOD is still TBD. We will communicate the details as we finalize them!
Workout Descriptions
We will update this page as we release the individual workout descriptions and movement standards. Stay tuned!
Workout 1: Max Snatch
Athletes will have three attempts to complete a max Snatch. This event will run like a mini weightlifting meet.
Women will snatch first, followed immediately by Men
Details:
- Athletes will weigh in during registration for Sinclair score calculations
- Athletes must declare a starting weight before their session begins
- Weight may not be removed from the competition bar throughout the Snatch session.
- 30s between lifts. If you miss your time, you forfeit that attempt!
Workout 2: Max Clean & Jerk
Similar to the Snatch, athletes will again have three attempts to achieve a max Clean & Jerk. Once Workout #1 is completed, this event will begin. Women will Clean & Jerk first, followed by Men.
Details:
- Athletes will weigh in during registration for Sinclair score calculations
- Athletes must declare a starting weight before their session begins
- Weight may not be removed from the competition bar throughout the Snatch session.
- 30s between lifts. If you miss your time, you forfeit that attempt!
Workout 3: AMRAP6
We’re excited to announce Workout #3 for this event! Workout #3 will be:
AMRAP 6
- 50/35 cal Bike
- 50 Thrusters (45/35)
- 25 Burpee Box Jump Overs (24/20)
Details:
- This workout will run in heats, like your “standard” CF competition WOD. The total number of registrants will dictate the number and size of heats
- at 3-2-1-go, athletes will begin biking for their prescribed calories. Athletes may not get off of the bike until their judge confirms the bike reads 50/35 calories
- Athletes will continue to their barbell, where they will complete 50 thrusters. One thruster rep begins with the barbell in the front rack and athlete standing tall. The athlete will complete a front squat to depth (hip crease below the knee) before standing and lifting the bar immediately into an overhead position with knees, hips, shoulders, and elbows fully extended and barbell directly over the athlete’s midline. A squat clean is allowed for the first rep of a set.
- Once Thrusters have been completed according to the lane judge, athletes will move to their box, and begin completing burpee box jump overs. A burpee box jump over rep starts with the athlete on one side of the box. The athlete may face any direction while completing the burpee, bringing their entire body to the floor, then standing up again. Once the burpee is completed, the athlete will jump or step both feet onto the box, then step down onto the floor on the other side. The rep is completed when both feet are on the ground on the opposite side of the box.
- Once all Burpee Box Jump Overs have been completed according to the lane judge, the athlete will return to the bike. Bike calories must be reset before an athlete begins to accrue calories. Judges may reset the bikes for the athletes.
- Only fully-completed reps will be counted at the end of the workout. Partial reps and calories will not be credited. For instance, an athlete who is still on top of the box at the call of “time” will not be credited with that Burpee Box Jump Over rep, because their feet had not made it to the ground and therefore only a partial rep is completed.
