After three fun and challenging weeks, the 2024 Aevitas Open is now behind us! We have tallied all the scores between Team North (Round Lake) and Team South (Guilderland) for each workout.
Keep reading to see how you and your gym made out, and who will be hosting the Aevitas Battle of The Gyms trophy… at least for now…
24.1 – ALL The Burpees
This year’s Open started with a couplet of Single-Arm DB Snatches and a whole lot of Burpees! Athletes who kept their cool during the first rounds made out well in this brutal workout, while athletes who went out too hot paid the price!

The scores:
Team North (Round Lake) pulled ahead early in the first week, with a 4.0% advantage over their southern counterparts. A lead, yes, but with two weeks to go, this Open was still anyone’s game!
24.2 – Engine, Strength, Skill
The second workout combined some good old-fashioned cardio and weightlifting with a higher-skill movement. Athletes needed to stay honest on the Row, waste no time on the Deadlift, and keep their cool on the Double Unders to conquer this one. Weakness in any of the three was detrimental over the twenty-minute time domain.

The scores:
24.2 is really where Round Lake pulled ahead, with an astonishing 10.0% lead over Guilderland. Great work, North!
Going into the final week, Team North would have to drop the ball on the 1-yard line, while Team South would need to pull out an astonishing buzzer-beater to turn the ship around. Would it be possible??
24.3 – Fran(ish?) With High Skill Gymnastics
24.3 brought everything else you could ask for in an Open – Thrusters (of course!), along with an increasing skill format that allowed athletes to earn their way into a better score bracket.
The combination of Thrusters and Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups may have seemed like “Fran”, but the stimulus was completely different! Then, the high-skill Muscle-ups took a toll on many athletes, separating the top athletes from the rest of the pack!

The scores:
The final workout was by far the closest of the three between the two teams, with just a 0.6% difference. However, Team South was not able to gain enough momentum to bring them back into contention. The event win, and trophy bragging rights, goes to Round Lake. Congrats, Team North!
Closing Thoughts and What’s Next in the North vs South drama
This year’s Open proved that Team North, when confronted with a challenge, cannot be underestimated!
Will Round Lake keep the trophy, or will Guilderland light a fire and earn it back? We can’t wait to find out!
