I’m pretty sure we start every single weekly blog post saying something like, “our community is just the best!” Really though, we mean it! This week, we are counting our blessings (you!) once again by recapping the strides the Aevitas Community made to help others this holiday season!
December Skinner Memorial WOD
First up, our annual memorial workout to remember those we have lost in our community, and to help bring awareness and support to a very important and worthwhile cause. This year’s Skinner WOD, just like previous years, did not disappoint! Aevitas athletes came out en masse to sweat together and remember together. All while raising money for the local chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention!
Together this year, we broke last year’s record and raised an amazing $800 with just the Skinner Memorial WOD event t-shirt sales and online donations! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for coming out and supporting such a worthwhile cause. The funds we raised together will stay local, to help Suicide Prevention and Mental Health awareness programs in schools and businesses, and help further the discussion around this topic.

Chamber Angels Giving Tree at Aevitas Round Lake
This year, we teamed up again with the Saratoga Chamber for their annual gift drive! We set up a tree, and the Chamber provided ornaments. Each ornament included an item on the wish list of a local child in need.
Just like last year, the giving spirit of Aevitas athletes was on in full force! We even had to request more ornaments because the first batch went so quickly! The Aevitas tree, combined with other efforts with the Chamber Angels, was able to help almost 450 local children in need this season! What an amazing thing to be a part of! Thank you to everyone who went out and purchased gifts! And if you missed the opportunity don’t worry, we will definitely be bringing this back next year!
Guilderland Food Pantry Drive
While we can’t exactly give a “recap” on this one yet as it’s ongoing through January, we are thankful for the donations so far! We have already brought more items in the first few weeks than we were expecting – so thank you all, and keep it up!
If you’re a Guilderland member, please bring in food pantry items and place them under the tree! We’ll stop the drive at the end of January when we take the tree down.
Not sure what to bring? We have ornaments on the tree with items that the food pantry has a relatively constant need for – so start there!
As you look back on your 2021, we hope that you are proud of all that you were able to accomplish, overcome, and contribute to. We are so proud to call everyone in this community our friends/family, and we’re CONSTANTLY amazed by your generosity! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!
