As you may know, our motto at Aevitas is “Fitness for a Lifetime”. Our athletes impress us every day with their efforts inside the gym. But even more impressive is the display of hard work and dedication shown outside of the gym – bringing fitness into real life!
Check out some of the amazing things Aevitas athletes have accomplished this year. Maybe these examples will inspire you to express your fitness outside of the gym in your own unique way!
Have a cool fitness-related event coming up? Let us know! We’d love to help you plan and prepare for it! We can also promote events within the gym community to see if others are interested as well!
Rookie Ruckus Powerlifting Competition – February – Albany, NY
Coach Sam and Jeremy from the Aevitas Round Lake location took on a local powerlifting meet over the winter! The two added powerlifting-specific training to their varied fitness routine to prepare for the competition.
Sam ended the day with a 200kg (440.9lb) Deadlift, 182.5kg (402.3lb) Squat, and 90kg (198.4lb) Bench Press. Jeremy achieved a 205kg (451.9lb) Deadlift, 175kg (385.8lb) Squat, and 120kg (264.6lb) Bench Press.

Festivus Games – April – Plattsburgh, NY
We had one three-person team represent Aevitas at a local Festivus competition this Spring! The event was hosted by CrossFit Plattsburg, and the athletes were Steph, Katelyn, and Claire from our Guilderland location!
For Steph and Claire, this competition was a first – and they crushed it! With the help of Katelyn, who is no stranger to the competition floor, this team gave it their all and had a great showing at this local fitness competition! Way to go, girls!
Northville-Placid Trail Hike – May
Steph took her fitness endeavors to another extreme this Spring, conquering 138 miles of the Northville-Placide trail with her brother! The expedition was challenging but also breathtakingly beautiful! She completed the hike alongside her brother.
In Stephanie’s own words, “It was more difficult physically, mentally, and emotionally than I anticipated, but worth every minute… I gained lasting memories, a renewed appreciation for the natural world and my place within it”
Lake Placid Marathon – June – Lake Placid, NY
Marissa from Aevitas Round Lake completed her first (and not last!) full marathon this Spring! Marissa conquered the very hilly Lake Placid marathon. To train for the event, Marissa combined her regular CrossFit class attendance with longer runs and some sprint/short distance work built in as well.
She was able to complete all 26.2 miles in just over 5 hours! And she’s already looking ahead to completing another marathon with her fiance, next Spring!
TPK Adventure Race – June – Stanhope, NJ
Coach Sam was at it again with his ventures into the TPK trail run events. He and his partner Zephyr took on miles of trail, while also solving puzzles and other challenges to finish. Sam and Zephyr officially finished second in the race with a finish time of 26 hours 14 minutes, which is quite an achievement!
Aevitas Spartan athlete Bri also competed in this race, and completed the entire course with her partner, coming in just over the 30-hour competition time cap.
USAW U25 Nationals – June – Pittsburgh, PA
Fen and Connor of the Aevitas Weightlifting team completed this month in the USA Weightlifting U-25 and U-23 National events, respectively. Fen completed the competition with a 70kg (154lb) Snatch and 80kg (176lb) Clean and Jerk. Connor achieved a 110kg (242lb) Snatch and 130kg (286lb) Clean and Jerk on the competition platform.
Dink for a Cure Pickleball Championship – June – Albany, NY
Last but certainly not least on our list, Colleen of Aevitas Guilderland competed in – and WON – the Dink for a Cure Pickleball competition hosted by Sienna College! The competition was sold out with over 200 people in attendance and served as a fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation.
Colleen and her partner brought home the Gold hardware, which also conveniently doubles as a jar opener!
