It is time yet again for this year’s worldwide CrossFit test of fitness – the 2025 CrossFit Open! Aevitas has participated in the CrossFit Open since we opened our doors. In fact, our first Open as a gym was ELEVEN years ago, in 2014!
We consider the CrossFit Open a staple in our year-round programming, training, and community engagement. And we are so excited to be continuing the Aevitas Team Open format this year! Read below to learn about the Open, and get yourself signed up – for the CrossFit Open, the Aevitas Open – or BOTH!

Why We Do The Open
If you’re new to CrossFit, or not really into the competitive side of things, you may not think the Open is necessarily for you. However, we disagree with this sentiment. Over the years we have seen the most- AND least-competitive athletes in our gym participate in the Open.
In every case, our athletes have walked away from the competition feeling more educated about themselves and their current fitness level. Many people have made new athletic goals based on their performance in certain workouts. Some people come away with a new skill or accomplishment (like double-unders, pull-ups, and muscle-ups!) Most importantly, almost everyone who’s ever been through the Open feels a sense of accomplishment, and most of the time, a renewed sense of commitment to their health and fitness.
For those reasons, the CrossFit Open will always be a part of what we do at Aevitas. It’s a chance for all of us to test our current fitness and make some assessments and goals for improvement in the coming year. It’s a chance to come together as a community and cheer each other on. Finally, it’s a chance to see where we are compared to the entire world of CrossFit athletes, which we think is pretty cool!
In our eyes, the value the Open brings to individual athletes AND the community is massive. If you’ve never been around to compete in the Open, we hope that you make 2025 “your” year! If you’ve done it before, we hope you’re ready to go into it with an open mind and excitement to test your fitness!
Details Of the 2025 CrossFit Open at Aevitas
This year’s Open competition will last for three weeks. The Open workout announcements will be released every Thursday, beginning February 27th. Individual scores are required to be submitted by the following Monday. Open workout announcements will be posted on the CrossFit Games website.
At Aevitas, our gym-wide Open workout day will be Friday. So if you come to the gym on Friday at any time, the WOD will be that week’s Open workout. We’ll set up heats and have scorecards available. We’ll run through the workouts together until everyone has completed the workout with a judge.
In addition to holding the Open workouts on Friday, we are really excited to bring back the Aevitas Open this year, making the Open a more collaborative community event between our two locations! If you’d like to be part of the Aevitas Open activities, you’ll need to sign up for the “Aevitas Open” (details below).
Anyone unable to complete the Open workout on Friday, or who would like to repeat the workout, will be able to do that in an Open Gym format on Saturday or Sunday. Anyone wishing to make up or re-do a workout outside of the standard Friday workouts will be responsible for finding a judge and/or recording the workout per the CrossFit Open guidelines. Also, any make-ups or re-dos need to be completed during the gym’s standard operating hours. There will not be extra staffing hours outside our general open times, so please plan accordingly to be in and out while the gym is open.
In-House Aevitas Open – The Battle of the Gyms!
We’re pumped to be doing this again in 2025! If you were a part of the Aevitas Team Open last year, you already know how much fun it is! This year we’re adding a twist that we hope everyone can get excited about!
Our motto for the 2025 Aevitas Open is “Smells Like Team Spirit” – we are going all in on the Team Spirit and Community aspect of the Open!
How to Compete
Every week of the Open, the two Aevitas locations will duke it out. But instead of comparing individual workout scores, each athlete will be able to earn points for their gym’s team by showing *spirit in any of the following ways:
- Complete the Open Workout for the week (any time before Monday 8PM) = 1 point
- Attend the Friday Night Lights (whether you’re completing the workout then or not) = 1 point
- Bring a spectator to Friday Night Lights = 1 point per spectator!
- Dress up according to the Weekly Theme = 1 point
The gym with the most points per member (total team points divided by number of team members) will claim the legendary Aevitas Open trophy and, of course, ultimate bragging rights!
Throwback Themes
Week 1: Queen (80s Pop/Rock)
Week 2: Nirvana (90s Rock)
Week 3: OutKast (2000s Hip Hop)
Bring Your Friends!
This year, we’re also adding incentives to spread the joy of fitness with your friends and family, by inviting them to join you at the Friday Night Lights events!
Not only will you receive points for the Battle of the Gyms competition by bringing spectators, but you and your friends will also be in the running for some sweet prizes!
Each spectator you bring to Friday Night Lights will enter you and them into a drawing. The more people you bring, the better your odds get and there’s no limit to the number of entries. (Ex: Bring 3 people and you get 3 entries. Each of them gets 1 entry). They can come as many weeks as they want to gain more entries. All spectators will be asked to check in when they arrive to declare their allegiance and get entered into the drawing. Winners will be randomly chosen following the last heats in the third and final week!
Members will be in the running for a brand-new Rogue Ohio Bar! Spectators can choose from either an Aevitas Hoodie OR a Yeti Mug.
We also have some fun activities for spectators to get in on the Open action 🙂
How To Sign Up for the CrossFit Open AND the Aevitas Open!
Whether or not you want to “compete” officially in the CrossFit Open or Aevitas Open this year, you will complete the Open workouts if you attend class on Friday. While we highly encourage participation in the CrossFit Open, we realize that not everyone will want to or be able to.
If you ARE interested in competing in the CrossFit Open this year, you can register NOW at the CrossFit Games website!
The Aevitas Open is a separate registration, and includes a custom 2025 Aevitas Open T-Shirt! If you’d like to register to compete but do not want a t-shirt, there’s an option for that too!
