An Aevitas Team Event
This year’s Aevitas Open is going to be more inclusive than ever before! We have decided to host a “Team” Open event, in which individual athletes will be drafted into a team, led by two coaches.
Here’s how we’re setting it up: On Tuesday, February 15th, Aevitas coaches will meet for an official Aevitas Open Draft. Everyone signed up for the Aevitas Open will be added to one of four teams. Teams will be split evenly between Rx and Scaled athletes, as well as “home gym” location. You may know everyone on your team, or you may not! But our hope is that by the end of the Open, you have formed some new bonds with your fellow Aevitas athletes!
Each week of the Open, teams will earn points based on the following criteria:
- Individual Workout Ranking – all athletes will be ranked based on their score for each workout. Individual rankings will be added together for a total team “performance” score
- Team Bonding Time – we will award extra points each week for teams that workout together. So whether you can get with just one other teammate, or you can gather the whole crew, your team will receive points for the number of people who are able to attack the workout together.
- Friday Night Lights – read below for details, but our goal here is to get as many members of your team as possible together on Friday evening to complete the workout together.
At the end of the competition, we will award prizes to teams and individuals based on the above criteria. So whether you think that you’re the “stud” of your team or not, there’s plenty you can do to help your team win!
Friday Night Lights!
We want to encourage as many athletes as possible to complete the Open workouts on Friday evening. So we’re turning the Friday evening WODs into a “Friday Night Lights” style workout. Both gyms will host the Friday evening festivities each week, so you can go to whichever gym works for you.
Starting at 4:30PM, we will be running heats of the week’s workout. Based on when you get to the gym, you’ll be placed into a heat. Heats will go through a warm-up, primer, some “pro-tips”, and then the workout. We encourage everyone to come to Friday evening to get your workout in as well as stay and judge another athlete before and/or after your own workout. This will ensure that everyone who is signed up is able to receive an official score for each workout.
Our goal with the Friday Night Lights style evening is to get people together to throw down in a fun and collaborative way. So, we’re encouraging you to come and at least cheer on or judge for your teammates – if you do, your team will get more points!
3-2-1-Go!
So now that you know how fun this year’s Aevitas Open is going to be, there’s just one thing left to do – sign up! Use the link below to get in on the action. We’ll notify everyone of their teams once the draft is held later this month.
Make sure to sign up by Wednesday, February 16th!
Please note: the Aevitas Open is NOT the same as the CrossFit Open. If you would like to join the worldwide CrossFit Open, please do so at games.crossfit.com. To get placed on a team at Aevitas and have your scores contribute to your team score, you must sign up for the Aevitas Open via the link above (or if you already did that counts too!)
And finally, if you do not wish to be a part of either “official” Open this year, please know that you are still encouraged to come and complete the week’s Open workout at any time on Friday. The workout of the day (for both CrossFit and ViTaFIT) will be a version of the Open workout, no matter what.
