Question: Hi Bridget, tell us a little about yourself (where did you grow up? where do you live now? family? what you do for a living? etc).

Bridget: I grew up in Delmar and now live in Guilderland. I work for an insurance company as an investigator in the Compliance department. I am married and have a 2 year old daughter and another baby on the way!

Q: What was your experience level with athletics prior to joining Aevitas?

Bridget Prior to CrossFit, I went to local gyms and enjoyed group fitness classes. Growing up I was always playing a team sport up to being on the rowing team in college.

Q: How long have you been doing CrossFit? Were there any terrific people in your bootcamp with you?

Bridget:  I have been doing crossfit since Aevitas started outside in the park back in 2013. There was a young, newlywed-acting couple in my bootcamp who I became friends with, Dave and Diana Edelson! We decided to stick with it after boot camp and see if Chad and Karen could pull off this crazy idea of running a gym and having full time jobs...and look where they are now!

Q: What is your favorite thing about Aevitas?

Bridget:  My favorite thing about Aevitas is the sense of community. I love working out in a group atmosphere and how everyone is encouraging of one another. I found this to be especially helpful with working out during my two pregnancies, everyone is looking out for me and encouraging me to keep going!

Q: Imagine you’ve made it to the finals of the CrossFit games.  What movement are you hoping will be in the final WOD and why?

Bridget: Rowing for sure- there is something about being on the rower where I can mentally get in the zone and just push myself more than during any other type of exercise. I am competitive with myself and always want to do better. I think this comes from when I was rowing during college and our training for the winter would be in an old racquetball court filled with ergs (no ventilation) doing 2k and 10k testing.

Q: And what are you hoping won’t be in the final WOD and why?

Bridget: Pull ups because I don’t have any yet and it’s a bummer when you can’t get a score.

Q: You’ve continued to do CrossFit well into both of your pregnancies.  How do you find the stamina and mental strength to continue working out so close to your due date?

Bridget: The days I come and hit a workout are the days I feel the best, so that is what keeps me coming back for more. I am the type of person who gets anxious if I don’t get some sort of physical activity in.

Q: How has staying fit through CrossFit helped you through your two pregnancies?

Bridget: Staying active and fit has helped me prepare physically and mentally for giving birth and the recovery after. Knowing I have endurance and strength is reassuring. It also has helped me keep up with my 2 year old, after a workout I feel more energized.

Q: In what areas have you improved the most since you began at Aevitas

Bridget: I think the main thing that has improved since starting at Aevitas is my confidence. When I first started I would have never worn a tank top to work out, I would always cover my arms. Now I can’t imagine working out with sleeves, I would feel suffocated. It’s suns out guns out everyday!

Q: What are some of your interests and hobbies outside of Aevitas?

Bridget: Outside of Aevitas the rest of my time is spent with my family. We love to go to Indian Ladder and check out other local events.

Q: If you could spend the afternoon with anyone you have never met, from history or the present, who would you pick and why?

Bridget: That is a hard choice, but I think it would have to be Celine Dion. I have loved her forever and got to see her perform in Vegas. Her energy is awesome and I like to model my car singing for Ann after her. I will be going to her show in Albany in December so maybe I’ll get to meet her then.

Q: Your daughter Ann is too cute.  No question here, it’s just worth stating that Ann is adorable.

Bridget: Ann says I know!

Q: Favorite TCBY flavor?  What toppings?

Bridget: Honestly I prefer the real deal, full fledged ice cream, but I go with vanilla cake flavor at TCBY with a Reese’s topping.

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions, Bridget. We are so excited for your upcoming family addition!
