The Aevitas Community Action Committee is at it again, this time with a fun outdoor event for all to join!
We have set up a Volunteer Day at the Regional Food Bank’s local farm, and we want you to join us! See below for all the details and the sign-up link
DATE: Saturday, September 12th
TIME: 10:00AM – 1:00PM
LOCATION: Patroon Land Farm – 132 Ketcham Road, Voorheesville, NY 12186
WHAT TO BRING: Water, snacks, a hat, a mask, sunscreen, and a great attitude!
About the Farm:
Below is a blurb from the farm’s website.
The Regional Food Bank, in partnership with the Patroon Land Foundation, is developing a self-sustaining farm that grows large quantities of high quality vegetables every year. The Farm supplies the Food Bank and 1,000 participating agencies in 23 counties with diverse, fresh produce. Currently, we have grown over 1,000,000 pounds of fresh produce. Although the majority of the Farm’s production is allocated to the Food Bank, we have sold 375,000 pounds of produce through a Community Supported Agriculture program and an on-site farm stand, both of which help to offset the Farm’s expenses.
Why We Chose This Event:
We believe that the work done by the Regional Food Bank is so important! We have supported them over the years through volunteer days as well as raising money for their Summer Lunch Program! Helping out at the farm is just another way we can support this very valuable entity in our community.
Also, what a great way to show our support by helping out with the physical labor needs that are inherent on a farm?! As fit people, this is right up our alley!
Finally, while concerns and restrictions around COVID-19 are still in place, being outside is very low-risk, and has so many health benefits to boot! So let’s get out there and breathe the fresh farm air as we help those in need right in our area!
Get Signed Up!
Use the button to reserve your spot at our volunteer event! The farm is not limiting the number of people (since they will have us outside in a field), so the more the merrier!
However we do need to let them know our head count, so please RSVP by Friday, September 11th
