This weekend, Killington VT will again be hosting their annual Spartan Weekend. The weekend includes pretty much everything the Spartan community could ask for, with Sprint, Beast, and Ultra race distances, along with a Kids Spartan race!
But the really awesome thing about this year, you ask? How many Aevitas Athletes are heading to Killington to compete! Between the two Aevitas locations, 20 athletes will be attending!!
We wanted to take a minute to wish these athletes the best of luck for a fun and successful race, no matter which distance (or distances!) they are choosing to compete in. Good luck, Aevitans!
A quick note to those competing – if you’re wondering about how to prep for this (or any athletic event), check out the tips that we put up before the Aevitas Triathlon with the link below!
Saturday, September 11th – Spartan Beast
The “Beast” distance Spartan Race is about a half marathon distance-wise, and consists of 30 obstacles! Athletes will challenge themselves not only to get through the terrain traveling up and down Killington mountain, but also tackle obstacles that involve carrying, climbing, crawling, jumping, and swinging!
The following Aevitans will be competing in this year’s Beast. Good luck, athletes!
- Laura Labbe
- Amanda Labbe
- Anne Herrick
- Sam H.
Sunday, September 12th – Spartan Sprint
The “Sprint” is the little (and nasty) sibling of the “Beast” course. The Sprint course, held Sunday, uses the same terrain and obstacles, but is shorter in duration. The Sprint race is around 5km in distance, and athletes will be challenged with 20 obstacles. While some people take on a Sprint in the hopes of competing in a Beast in the future, others prefer this more manageable distance and time commitment overall.
Best of luck to our Aevitans taking on this year’s Spartan Sprint at Killington!

Saturday, September 11th – Sunday, September 12th – Spartan Ultra
The “Ultra” is the most grueling of the Spartan races, and is reserved for the seasoned vets who have at least a few smaller races under thier belts! The Ultra is TWICE the distance of the Beast, and athletes will take on 60 obstacles over the course of the race. The Ultra is literally two laps of the Beast… so keep that in perspective after reading about how intense the Beast is!
We do actually have athletes competing in the Spartan Ultra this year! Best of luck for a safe, fun, and successful race!
