If you’ve been around our Guilderland location for any length of time, you’ve probably met the friendly, hard-working force that is Victoria. And, if you’re a ViTaFITTer, you’ve most likely also had the privilege of being coached by her!
Today, we are applauding Victoria’s recent passage of the CrossFit L-1 Certificate Course!
We thought now would be the perfect time to introduce Victoria as an up-and-coming superstar in the Aevitas Coaching Team. So we sat down and asked her a few questions! Get to know Victoria a little better by reading our Q&A below!
Question: OK, let’s start with some basic background. Where are you from, what did you grow up doing, etc?
Victoria: I’m from a small town named Ravena, where I actually met my husband! We now currently live in Latham.
Q: What was your athletic background before Aevitas?
V: I was a competitive dancer for about 11 years! I grew up in my dance studio and going to competitions almost every weekend. I eventually became a dance teacher in 2011. I also played volleyball in middle school and high school, but let’s just say I’m a better dancer than I am a volleyball player.
Q: How long have you been an athlete at Aevitas?
V: Four whole years!
Q: What’s your life like outside of the gym? Family, job, interests/hobbies, etc
V: Is there life outside of the gym? LOL just kidding! I’m married to my best friend, Roy! We’ve been together for 10 years and married for almost three. We have the goofiest German Shepard named Blake, who is pretty much me in dog form. I work at a Digital Marketing Agency in Albany as a Marketing Coordinator during the workweek, and coach dance and vitafit classes in the evening!
Q: What made you want to get your L-1?
V: I felt like it was the next step! I’ve come to appreciate every movement that I’ve been introduced to at Aevitas, and wanted to dive a little deeper into the methodology of CrossFit. I also chose to get my L-1 to continue to strive to be a better athlete.
Q: What was your biggest takeaway from the L-1 course?
V: I benefitted from a ton of the breakout sessions where we worked on the foundational movements.
My biggest takeaway is that the PVC pipe is an athlete’s best friend…and gets very heavy after an 8 hour day!
Q: Favorite thing about CrossFit/Aevitas?
V: There are so many things I love about Aevitas! The coaches and the community are probably among my “top 2 favorite things about Aevitas”. No matter the workout, you can expect a crowd of members and coaches cheering you on to push just a little harder. I just love it.
For movements, I LOVE squat cleans and double-unders.
Q: Most Challenging movement for you?
V: Toes To Bar and Pull-Ups!
Q: What are your athletic goals?
V: I’m working on being a better gymnast and a better runner. My goal is to cut down my mile time by a minute, and move better in those tricky gymnastic movements like TTB and pull-ups. Maybe a bar muscle up by the end of 2021? IDK! Anything can happen with some dedication and hard work.
Q: What about Coaching/Leadership goals?
V: I’d like to dabble in coaching some of the CrossFit classes at Aevitas! I also have a plan to take my L2 course in the near future, and my L3 eventually. 🙂
Q: What are some other fun facts about you that you’d like to share? Favorite foods/treats? All time favorite book or movie?? Unique/useless talents? How many houseplants you have?
V: FOOD: I love sweets and candy! I also have some weird obsession with peanut butter. There have been fights in our household over there being no peanut butter, so it gets pretty serious LOL.
MOVIE: My favorite movie is Elf! Yes, the Christmas movie. I could watch it all year round.
TALENTS: HAHA I originally went to college for Vocal Performance and Opera studies. I used to be pretty into classical singing!
HOUSE PLANTS: I currently have 11 in my office and 10 in my home. New plant friends are coming soon 🙂
Make sure to congratulate Victoria on her recent accomplishment the next time you see her!
