June is already upon us! And with June comes our annual “Aevitas vs. Alzheimer’s” Bingo Challenge. Join us this year in our fight to find the cure for Alzheimer’s Disease!
About the Cause
Since starting Aevitas and beginning to look into community and charity events, Chad and Karen have always known that Alzheimer’s Disease was a cause worth fighting for, for several reasons.
Alzheimer’s And Dementia Are Extremely Prevalent
Over fifty million people worldwide are living with dementia, and one in three seniors die with Alzheimer’s/dementia every year. In fact, Alzheimer’s is responsible for more deaths than both breast and prostate cancer combined! [source: alz.org]
A Personal Connection
Chad and Karen have both lost grandparents to dementia-related disease. Unfortunately, anyone who has watched a loved one struggle with dementia knows that it’s a long, slow, and painful journey for everyone. Hopefully, as we learn more about the disease and its progression, along with prevention and treatments, we’ll be able to minimize the strain this disease puts on so many families.
The Physical Activity Connection
One thing that research has shown is that physical activity is one of the main prevention tactics for developing Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia [source: alzheimers.org.uk]. We clearly see the physical benefits of leading an active lifestyle, including cardiovascular and joint/bone health. We also recognize the mental and social benefits of group training. Both of these factors play a key role in preventing mental decline as we age.
The 2021 Bingo Challenge
We’re excited to bring back our annual Aevitas vs Alzheimer’s Bingo Challenge this year, to both Aevitas locations!
We’re bringing it back in June to correspond with the Alzheimer’s Association’s “The Longest Day” campaign. You can read more about this annual campaign RIGHT HERE.
For this year’s challenge, participants will purchase a Bingo Card with a donation (suggested $20) to the Alzheimer’s Association. Donations may be cash or charged to your member account.
Each Bingo card has 24 individual activity challenges to complete. Some will be easy, and others are meant to be more difficult! Participants have until Saturday, June 26th to complete as many squares on the card as possible and submit their scores through an online form.
All participants will be entered into a drawing for some smaller prizes. Additionally, any fully completed cards will be entered to win a larger prize!
