This past Sunday, August 30th, the Aevitas Fitness community gathered at Tawasentha Park for the second annual Aevitas Triathlon! It was a beautiful day for a race, and all athletes competed well.
Keep reading for a race recap (including final results and photo album location!), as well as information on how you can continue to support the STEM charity!
Race in Review
The weekend started off with a pretty spotty weather forecast, and we even got rained on quite a bit during the race prep on Saturday! However, once Sunday rolled around the air was cool and the skies were clear – a perfect morning to race!
Thirty-two athletes in all competed in the Triathlon this year. We had enough athletes to fill up all pool lanes for four whole heats! Plus several athletes in the “Amateur” division, showing their grit on the Ski Ergs and Assault Bikes! All-in-all, we were very happy with the race turnout.
We had several volunteers come out to support the race as well! There is simply no way to run a successful event without the help of volunteers, and we can’t thank them enough! From our Registration and Aid Table support to our Swim and Bike lap counters and Trail Run spotters, to Coach Pick aka Safety Specialist, the event volunteers worked hard to run a safe and fun event! Thank you, volunteers!
Finally, we also need to stop and thank our event sponsors for assisting with this event!
- Ritual 518 provided smoothies for EVERYONE! They also provided a $25 gift certificate to our first-place winners!
- Mixed Breed Brewing also helped us out with refreshments, providing beer for EVERYONE to enjoy post-race! Mixed Breed also donated T-shirts and $25 gift certificates for the podium!
- Say Cheez 518 food truck fed all the hungry athletes and volunteers post-race and provided a free sandwich or tot certificate to our third-place finishers
THANK YOU to all of our sponsors for your support!
Since we ran both “Pro” and “Amateur” divisions for this race, we decided that we would award first, second, and third place prizes to BOTH divisions.

Race Day Photos
While we were unable to have a photographer on-site for the event, we did capture some great photos! Check out the album with the link below.
If you took some awesome action shots on Sunday, please feel free to upload them to the shared folder for everyone to enjoy!
A Cause Worth Supporting – and how you can still help!
Of course, we would be remiss if we failed to mention the true meaning behind this event! We organized this event (and last year’s in-house Triathlon) to help raise money and awareness to a very worthwhile cause. Strong Through Every Mile (STEM) is an organization that works with survivors of domestic abuse, by running volunteer-led Couch To 5K programs. These programs not only help survivors learn their own physical strength, but also go so far to help them realize their mental and emotional strength as well!
We are honored to again be supporting this awesome cause this year!
While the race is over, we’re not quite done supporting the STEM team quite yet! We’re leaving you with TWO more ways to support STEM!
Support With a T-Shirt Or Post-Race Donation!

Support STEM’s Next Event!
This October, STEM is helping to sponsor the Summer Smith 5k Addiction Awareness Memorial Run, named after a STEM graduate! This is a 5K race for all ages, and will be held on Saturday, October 23rd at The Crossings at Colonie, in Loudonville. If you’re free that weekend and up for a fun race for a great cause, get yourself signed up!
